![]() ![]() I went back and played the 3rd game and enjoyed it though never beat it because 5 was released and I got hooked on that as well.Įdit* I think for the sake of anyone new to the series I should clarify, it took a few hours/sessions of sticking with the game before it really set it's hooks in. Aaaaaaaaand I was hooked.* And now I would easily put it as one of my top 5 favorite games of all time. Then my brother who knew I got a vita but barely had any games because they were practically nonexistent gifted me p4g for christmas, I sat on it for several months then begrudgingly fired it up one day when I was bored. weeb shit, idk, I just was completely uninterested. As someone who never was really exposed to Anime outside of Dragon Ball Z as a kid it looked like. I bought a ps Vita, and the vita subreddit was constantly, even obsessively recommending p4g. I was first recommended it by a friend when it released on the Vita back in 2012, I saw it and was like "oh, cool, another anime game with high schoolers" I wasn't impressed with the premise and felt the setting was very cliché. I couldn't possibly recommend this game more, and I hope I find something else to play that even comes close to this level of quality. Whenever the question came up of "what video game world would you live in ?" I never had an answer, now I do. Easily the best video game that I've ever played. This was a very personal and deeply moving experience that I'll never forget. I was constantly looking at the clock, seeing how much I potentially had left, trying to do as many things on the side to add length to the game, cherishing every little bit of dialogue and enjoying every scene and every character interaction. The game's duration varies depending on your playstyle and which difficulty you pick (of which there are 5) but it's never less than a solid 50 hours. I won't discuss the gameplay because that'd mean spoiling too much, but the game delivered on that front magnificently as well. I highly recommend saving a lot and in multiple stages of the game because you'll likely want to backtrack to change things. This is a game in which your choices can bring you to one of 6 different endings, each one is very distinct in tone. There is not a single character that isn't well done, which is something I can't say about any other game. Each one of them has an Arc and story and depth that is sorely missed in a lot of shows and movies nowadays. It deals with things like (not necessarily spoilers, but just in case you don't want to know these) existential crises and existential depression, the meaning and purpose of life, the value or necessity of truth, the confusion that comes with finding one's identity in life, insecurity and social anxiety, trauma and so many more things that I can't possibly cram into one post, and I haven't even gotten to the characters yet.Įvery character in this game is a real person. This is a story unlike anything that I've ever seen in a video game and includes some of the most mature writing, not just in games, but in any form of entertainment. ![]() ![]() This game kicks into high gear in the most unexpected and original way possible. The first hour or so feels very cookie cutter and ordinary, and then. I went into it completely blind without checking any reviews. It was recently brought to PC, so I thought I'd give it another chance. This game is a must-play for anyone who values exceptionally good writing in video games. I'm aware of how much praise this game has gotten over the past 8 years, but I wanted to give my two cents on it as well.
